5th Week

Topic 1: A Dish of Ice Cream

A 10 year old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table.

A waitress kept a glass of water in front of him.

“How much is an ice cream sundae?” asked the boy.

5 dollars, replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and counted the number of coins in it.

How much is the dish of plain ice cream?  He asked again.
As some people were waiting for a table, the waitress was a bit impatient.

3 dollars, she said rudely.

The little boy again counted the coins.

I will have the plain ice cream, he said.

The waitress brought the ice cream, kept the bill on the table, and walked away.

The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier, and left the hotel.

Later on, when the waitress came back, she began wiping down the table and then swallowed hard at what she has seen.

She found that 2 dollars were kept neatly beside the empty dish for her as a tip.

“Kindness is caring for others, even when they may not care for you.” Thank you and have a nice day.

Topic 2: Importance of Thank You

Thank you is a powerful pair of words and Thank you is the key that opens the door to happiness.

Almighty God said, first Thank my people then Thank me. We should never feel shy to say Thank you and if we say thank you, people will love us and like us more as we are a good people.

If you forgot to say thank you, it looks bad and people feel bad also.

How busy you may be, it’s always right to thank people for even small things.

We should say Thank You to our Teachers, Youngers, Elders, friends, neighbours, and others as you wish.

Sometimes people say bad words to you and if you reply Thank you with a smile, they might think later they have done wrong and may feel sorry for their attitude.

Please don’t forget to say Thank you to others.

Thank you and have a nice day
